Burgas 2024: a meeting point for the global Drupal community

Drupal Developer Days is one of the key events in the Drupal calendar, gathering enthusiasts, developers, and experts from around the world. This year, the beautiful coastal city of Burgas became the meeting point for the global Drupal community, holding 3 days of knowledge sharing, networking and contribution.

Our team attended various sessions, workshops and networking opportunities that Drupal Developer Days offered. We also had the honour of giving talks, where we shared our experience and insights on various topics, contributing to the knowledge of the Drupal Community.

"Empowering content editors: managing content with ease in highly complex environments" by Artem Dmitriiev

Content management forms sometimes look complicated and difficult to work with. The real-time frontend editing and content templates can streamline your content editor experience, making it more intuitive, reducing stress, and boosting productivity. But how?

Modern web pages require strictly structured content for API exposure and decoupled solutions, making UIs complex for content editors due to nested structures and extensive fields.

This session explains how to improve the editor experience using popular Drupal modules "Content Templates" and "Frontend Editing." These modules have been developed by 1xINTERNET and contributed to the Drupal community for the benefit of others.

You'll learn best practices for managing content at scale and see demos to enhance the editor experience, even for fully decoupled websites.

"AI with Drupal - Using LLM technology is easy, but how do you actually build useful applications?" by Christoph Breidert

Using AI applications like OpenAI's ChatGPT is becoming common, particularly for tasks such as creating or re-writing text, which already integrates well with Drupal.

However, the true potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) lies in developing custom applications tailored to client data and business processes, despite the challenges involved.

This session provides a high-level overview of how LLMs function, emphasising the benefits of "In-context Learning" and "Retrieval Augmented Generation" (RAG) for customisation.

You´ll see practical use cases and limitations of public LLMs, and gain insights into optimising and building your own AI applications. Get inspired with potential use cases and effective strategies for LLM integration!
