At 1xINTERNET we learned that the sports club Makkabi Frankfurt shares and lives by the same diversity and equality values as we do. They were missing a sponsor for their youth Tennis teams and we stepped in.

1xINTERNET and Makkabi Frankfurt

Earlier this year we were looking for a tennis club in Frankfurt for our son who wanted to join a youth team. First we spoke with the leading tennis sports clubs in Frankfurt, but our son was quickly turned down, because he was not good enough. When we spoke with Makkabi Frankfurt they said that any club member can have training and play in their teams regardless of their skill level. If they don’t have enough training spots or teams, they simply create more. Because, this is what sports clubs should be all about.

Being inclusive and welcoming to everybody and providing opportunities for all team members resonated a lot with the philosophy we have at 1xINTERNET. 

We are a software company with a team of more than 80 colleagues from all over the world, speaking more than 20 languages, from all major religions, with almost 40% female staff, and a wide age span from 20 years old to over 50 years old.

At 1xINTERNET we have very flat hierarchies and working together on an equal level with all team members is a very normal thing to us.

Makkabi Frankfurt works exactly the same way. They have more than 3.500 members from more than 80 countries, more than 12 religions, and provide sports opportunities in 27 departments for all genders, age groups, and skill levels.

Being a good team is all about respecting each other, having fun with each other, having the opportunity to learn from each other, and being successful together. 

When we heard that the youth department of Tennis was missing a sponsor for the team jerseys we stepped in and provided the funds.
