Last week, the Nordic Women in Tech Awards took the stage in Reykjavik, bringing together women in the tech industry from across Scandinavia. The event was not only inspiring but also a testament to the remarkable contributions of women in the ever-evolving tech landscape.

A gathering of tech pioneers

The stage was graced by influential women from various corners of Scandinavia, each sharing insights and reminders that resonated with the audience. Notable speakers included Eliza Reid, the First Lady of Iceland, who delivered a compelling talk on the ongoing fight for equality, emphasizing the importance of persistence even in times of progress.

Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, Minister of Higher Education and Innovation, stressed the significance of role models in the tech industry. In a rapidly changing field, the need for strong figures to guide and inspire the next generation was highlighted.

Baddy Sonja Breidert, our CEO at 1xINTERNET shared her tech journey that began at the age of 10, underscoring the impact of influential female role models throughout her career. 

Honoring Mentors and Achievers

The event also recognized outstanding contributions, with the "Mentor of the Year" award presented by our Marketing Manager Global, Hadda Hreiðarsdóttir. The well-deserved recipient was Ragnhild Hånde from Forte Digital, a testament to her impactful mentorship in the tech community.

Heartfelt congratulations were extended to all nominees, finalists, and winners, acknowledging their dedication and achievements in the tech sector.

Plamena Cherneva, Founder of Nordic Women In Tech Awards, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and engagement; she highlighted the exceptional quality of this year's nominees, finalists, and winners, acknowledging their leadership, mentorship, and initiatives.

As the curtains close on the 2023 edition, the anticipation for the next gathering in Norway in 2024 is already building. The Nordic Women in Tech Awards continue to shine a spotlight on the remarkable women shaping the future of technology in the Nordic region.
